Between November 27 and December 1, over 50,000 attendees will descend on Las Vegas, Nevada for AWS re:Invent 2023.

This year, HCLTech will return as a gold sponsor, reaffirming its 13+ years of partnership with AWS. At the HCLTech booth, leaders across the AWS Business Unit and CloudSMART teams will showcase industry-specific solutions covering financial services and insurance, manufacturing, automotive, life sciences and more. Multiple solution demos around data and analytics, app modernization, generative AI, SAP and mainframe modernization, which help solve complex business problems and drive innovation at scale, will also be highlighted.

The cloud ecosystem under one roof

“AWS re:Invent is the most vibrant and comprehensive event in cloud computing,” says Prabhakar Appana, SVP and Global Head of AWS Business Unit at HCLTech.

He adds: “Clients, partners and system integrators are all under one roof, where each can demonstrate their individual capabilities and the art of the possible from an AWS perspective.”

With every part of the cloud ecosystem attending, the whole event centers around connecting and collaborating, in-person, with end user organizations and AWS experts. It’s all about making connections and enabling the client community to transform during their cloud modernization journeys.

A focus on innovation

Each year, AWS re:Invent celebrates innovation and highlights progress in the customer community. Lessons from these projects are showcased, challenges are shared and best practices are discussed.

AWS also releases a host of new service offerings, with next-generation updates from an AWS ecosystem point of view.

“I’m particularly looking forward to the keynote sessions from leaders like Adam Selipsky [Chief Executive Officer, AWS], Swami Sivasubramanian [Vice President of Data and AI, AWS] and Ruba Borno [Vice President, AWS Worldwide Channels and Alliances] to find out about how we can scale and transform our partnership even further in 2023 and 2024,” says Appana.

He adds: “It will also be interesting to hear the new announcements around how partners can work more cohesively with AWS and understand how a more integrated approach can be adopted, whether it's around joint offerings, go-to-market motions solutions, training and enablement and empowering our team at HCLTech with new innovative ways of operating, which also involves new level of AWS certification.”

Technology shift from 2022 to 2023

A lot can change over the course of a year. Since AWS re:Invent 2022, the world has turned its attention to generative AI (GenAI). It’s the most talked about technology trend in the enterprise and GSI partner community.

AWS, like many organizations, has been involved in GenAI conversations for quite some time, but over the last 12 months, noise around the technology has been deafening. Enterprises are still experimenting, use cases are being defined and the cost of rolling out GenAI deployments at scale might hinder its anticipated wide-spread implementation.

However, looking to overcome these challenges and ride the GenAI wave, AWS is expected to announce a host of new generative AI releases at re:Invent that make it much easier and more cost effective for companies to train and run large language models (LLMs).

“Offerings of customized large language models will allow enterprises to build generic AI applications and write code much more efficiently with AWS CodeWhisperer. There is an existing suite of generative AI enabled services, which have been launched and are currently being adopted in the client community. And we expect to see more announcements at re:Invent. HCLTech has also announced that it will train and enable our workforce of 50,000 engineers and developers to build secure applications with AWS Code Whisperer,” says Appana.

He adds: “There has also been a rapid increase in purpose-built chips in 2023. The pace of innovation has accelerated as workloads take advantage of hardware optimization, which can maximize performance, while lowering energy consumption and reducing costs. As a result, AWS will be more aggressive with investments and provide progressive future roadmaps for accelerators like Inferentia, which enables organizations to deliver high performance at the lowest cost for deep learning (DL) inference applications, compared to last year.”

In parallel to investment in technologies like GenAI, enterprises are also increasing their focus on industry cloud in 2023. HCLTech, for example, has recently announced its Insurance Cloud on AWS, to meet these expectations and Gartner expects that by 2027, more than 70% of enterprises will use industry cloud platforms to accelerate their business initiatives, up from less than 15% in 2023.

“Industry cloud enables different industries to implement and adopt technology in a much more linear and cost-efficient manner,” explains Appana.

HCLTech at AWS re:Invent

At AWS re:Invent ‘23, HCLTech will have many senior executives from the AWS Business Unit and CloudSMART teams attending. The aim is to showcase live demos, customer success stories and innovative solutions, as well as connect with other industry leaders to learn and grow together.

“A highlight of our presence will be a joint partner data session with our marquee European customer, Ericcson, on their cloud transformation and the role HCLTech played in this journey,” says Appana.

He adds: “We will also announce a sustainability platform that we have built on AWS, which will help organizations across the world adopt sustainability at pace. The platform will help our clients reduce their carbon footprint and become more energy efficient during cloud adoption.”
